When they still come around when your broke, or down on your luck, and not just to make fun of you. True friends don't come along very often I'm afraid.

When you trust them, have known them a while, and know their attitude. Like if you met a new friend be fore you tell her your secrets, get to know her first that way you know what kind of secrets you should tell her.( like deep-dark secrets, secrets others can know, and inbetween ) Also do a practice secret see if she would tell others. Make sure to not embarrass yourself with secrets if you don't trust your friend that well.

When they are not afraid to tell you the truth even if it hurts.... that makes them a real friend not just a so-called friend.

I found that their is no such thing. I always have my guard up. My bestfriend ran off with my boyfriend. Thank god but females are not trustworthy when it comes to your man!!!!

start a conversation about yourself. If they keep changing the conversation to themselves , you are just a sounding board.
