The simplest but costly way is to extend your wlan is to buy a repeater (not exactly the best idea, but it works in a pinch), but the easiest way is to place the AP where LOS (line of sight) doesnt go through solid objects or other radio sources. My personal way to fix this problem is to just buy a 6db+ omni (if you like to move around) or directional anntena. Just be sure to enable WEP security to keep nosey neighboors like me from poking around you network, or at least slow them down :)
