Can anyone tell me how do I select RAM for my desktop. Does it have to be of certain frequency and please tell me any other requirements.

The type and speed of the RAM must be compliment to the motherboard!
The motherboard dictates what RAM you buy!
Google the motherboard serial number to get the specifications.

Another easy way is to go to the website of Crucial Technology, Corsair and others and use their step by step method in determining what type of RAM your computer takes by just answering the on-screen questions.

i dont know what those others are saying, but what you want is at the very least want is 1(one) Gigbyte of RAM. at least 20 GB harddrive, and intel Core duo processor. a good screen, and cd/DVD burner, with Xp or Vista.

Depends on if its DDR or DDR2.

Easiest way is to open up your computer, pull out one of the DIMMs. (Memory Modeules) and see what PC-XXXX it is. (The XXXX stands for certain numbers) of if its PC2-XXXX.

go to www.crucial.com and they will scan your computer and tell you what you have and what upgrades your computer will take
