I am sure everyone has used sick time when they are not actually sick. Do you have any ethical issues about doing this? Or do you not worry about it?

Is it really that bad to want to go out and have a few beers with your friends on St. Patrick's day?

Usually I reserve sick days for when I'm sick or my daughter is sick, but I've used them for other things before. It's my earned leave time, after all. If I want to use a sick day to go have a picnic, I'll do it with no qualms. It's my risk that I might use all my sick days when I'm not sick and then when I really get sick, I won't have any left.

I worked for a major transportation company once. I started out with 2 weeks vacation and 10 sick days. Since sick days are a company benefit, and not a moral issue, I saw it as having 24 vacation days a year (and took full advantage of it... as did everybody else [including the supervisors] in the company).

I do not hink you should use a sick day for drinking just to miss out on getting PAID. But I have used them when I had a really stressful job and I needed a break. That is when I did not feel bad but in reality it is LYING bottom line it is wrong. I made a mistake I should have done better.
Stay healthy forget about the drinking, practice some self-control. Avoid the hangover.

i call in sick only if i am. because, this is called murphy's law, but the time you aren't actually sick and just want a good time is the time you will run into a supervisor . trust can be broken in a couple of seconds, and why jeopardize that? go out AFTER work. ! but if you have to work tomorrow morning and want to call in sick b/c of hangover, then w/e because then you are actually feeling sick ! happy beer fest!

I did it when I was in my 20's and didn't feel guilty about it. I am much older and responsible now, and I never take off a sick day.

They're called mental-health days.

I think people who get a certain amount of sick days per year tend to think of them as a benefit of their job, something they have the right to use.

The one thing, I think you shouldn't use them (when you're feeling well) if you know your absence is going to hurt your company or your co-workers, like if you decide to call in sick on the busiest day of the year.

Not everyone gets sick days. And not everyone has friends to drink beer with. I hope you enjoy them both.

a number of of girls do stand on the bus and subway. I continuously supply up my seat to the old and infirm, and that i would not dream of asking you to stand for me. while you're drained I recommend you sit down and not hassle approximately what human beings think of you you.

I've called in to work rarely but yes, I have called in when I was hungover, maybe twice in 15 years. Everyone needs a break once in a while. Go for it. As long as you don't abuse it.
