Well they are not THAT expensive. The most expensive things are diapers and formula if you are not breast feeding. If you are interested you may try and get on the Wic program for lower income families. It pays for 9 cans of formula a month and that is equal to about 130 dollars. You also need a lot of sleepers. You will make it just fine.

If you have a baby shower you will get alot of the things you need register for diapers and wipes not only your big ticket items. We went through 200 diapers the first month our little boy was born and about 3 wipes per diaper. now he is 4 1/2 months old and we change about 5 diapers a day because he doesn't poop everyday... if you can breast feed do so it'll save you about 60 bucks a week in formula. We did supplement though just so I could get away for an hour to get groceries. My little guy didn't get nipple confusion I think because we started right away with both bottle and breast feeding. He also grew out of items really quick in the first month ask for larger sleepers like 3-6 months to get more use out of them as well as the onesies that they wear under them. Good luck hope this helps. Also visit Oprah.com and type in baby language if you didn't catch the show.. all babies say the same 5 words no matter what gender or race. Knowing this made me less scared since i knew what my little guy needed. It is a pre cry that the baby does... Neh means i am hungry, Heh means I am uncomfortable, Eh means i have to burp, OOh means i am tired and ERR means i need to toot. this was a life saver for me to know hope it helps you too.

First, Congratulations!
Hopefully you will have had or will have a baby shower... most of the big stuff was taken care of for me at mine. The big 1 time expenses are:
Crib, changing table, playpen, swing, carseat.
Little things that add up are baby rash ointment, powder, medicine, vaseline (for circumsision care), lotions, soaps.
Don't forget diapers and wipes!
There are optional things you may want to get if it's in your budget... like bouncy seats, excercise mats, boppy pillows, stroller, baby carrier or sling...

Breastfeed if possible... it's free! Formula is expensive. If you formula feed, u also need bottles and a sterilizer.

I have a 4 month old breastfed baby. My only baby expenses are about $90 a month on diapers and wipes. Oh and a $20 copay at 2, 4 and 6 months for his checkups.

At 6 months old you'll need to add baby food to the expenses. That bill will be around $40 to $60 a month depending on how much your little one eats.

Babies can be very expensive, but they do not need to be!
You can spend thousands and thousands on a new furniture set and toys and all the latest accessories.

If you look, it is relatively easy to find people selling items which have only been used for one child. Some things are still in brand-new condition. Look through the classifieds and see if there are any mom-to-mom sales in your area. I ended up buying a crib and mattress and changetable which I love for $80!

The biggest weekly expenses are diapers and formula. You will learn which brand of diapers you like best. In North America formula is very highly regulated so there is not much difference between the brands in the grocery stores.

Let's see...clothes, diapers, formula, bottles, cups, utensils, socks, shoes, furniture, toys, blankets, hats, coats, car seats, etc (and that's just the beginning). We're talking thousands of dollars here and not just when they are a baby, but 18 years worth of everytime they need something you have to provide it for them. I hope I'm not freaking you out, but that's the reality. Have a baby shower (or two) and let your family and friends help you support the baby. Every parent has to go through this and most people do just fine so don't worry. FYI: if you're giving birth in about 2 months then you better get on it and start buying these things for your baby. You have every right to be scared, but let the excitement take over. It's going to be great and you're going to love it! Good luck.

It depends...

If you find disposable diapers are way too expensive, replace it with cloth diapers where you just need to wash it every time it gets dirty.

If you find formula are expensive, breastfeed your baby, if possible.

for the clothes (baby grow really fast so shouldn't buy too much clothes especially for new born), cot, car seat, stroller and etc., simply borrow it from your friends and relatives or buy it when there is sales.

I do think childcare is the one that will cost more if you got to work but you can try to ask for the help of your mom or relatives and see if they can help you to take good care of your baby. It helps to reduce your expenses.

Stuff such as soother, wet wipes and etc. which, the baby need to use daily shouldn't cost you much.

so......what will cost you most is all depends on how and where you spend the money on. LOL

If you don't have medical insurance I would say that it's the most expensive. Daycare is also a huge expense if you are not able to stay home. If you qualify you can get free medical and free or low cost daycare. But I don't think they are expensive at all. I used cloth diapers and a wipey warmer with baby washcloths in it Instead of wipes. You just keep a little water in there with a few drops of lavender oil and baby is fresh and clean. There are amazing new cloth diapers that have the diaper and the cover all in one. No pins, just velcro. I put my soiled diapers in a galvanized bucket with borax and baking soda. Once a day just pour the water in the toilet and dump the diapers in the washer. Just don't wash them with detergent that has perfumes and dyes as it could irritate your baby's skin. You will also save $ on your garbage not having so many diapers to throw away. I breastfed so I didn't have to spend any $ on formula. Check consignment stores, thrift stores and craigslist for any baby items you need that weren't given to you. I always take my kids used clothes to consignment stores and use my credit to get them new clothes. So as you can see there are ways to have a baby without breaking the bank. It just depends on what you are willing to do. Once she is in school it get's more expensive. You have to pay for school supplies, clothes, field trips, extra curricular activities, swimming lessons and sports. They have financial aid for most of these things at school, community centers, the Boys and Girls club, the YMCA, and WMCA. Birthday parties and pictures are another expense, but there are plenty of ways to save there too. Get a good camera and do it yourself, or go to Wall Mart or Target. Parties can be done on a budget as well. I hope I've given you some good ideas and everything works out well for you. Over all just enjoy your baby. She will grow up so fast

Diapers and formula. I would check to see if I was eligilble for WIC, can save you lots on formula, and I'm a big fan of Luvs diapers or Dri Bottoms from Wal-Mart. Another thing, check consignment stores for clothes. I really like Once Upon A Child, you can get name brand clothes that have barely been used and you can find alot of things new with the tags still attached, cheap. Hope this helps.

Diapers and formula.
I switched to cloth diapers and have saved quite a bit. Store brands do just as well as the premiums. I like Cottontails and Little Tykes.
Formula can be very expensive, up to and over 20 a can. You can get the Kmart or WalMart brands cheaply, they're made by the same company. Bright Beginnings is a good one, too.

Breastfeeding is free!
