In bigger metropolitan cities and small towns, teens are having sex parties, oral groups, and casual sex as well as sex too early, and getting pregnant as young as 12. What are your views do you know of a specific story or event that has to deal with this large issue?
THanks for your answers!

And a slight addition to my question.
I work with kids from elementary on up to middle school I suppose I'm more concerned about them at times. I'm not saying that every kid doesnt have natural emotions and sex drives, but I am saying they should be tamed until they are older. How old is old enough? thats up to them and their parents, not me. I just want to know your opinons.

Finally a good question. I applaud you.
I think this issue shows the degradation of family in this country. Children (at 12 you are still a child last I checked) are inundated with culture from many, many outlets. The internet, television, school, friends, magazines, and older family members have not qualms about chronicling the lives of people with no moral or ethical standards. Kids today are taught by these entities that it is ok to run around with no panties on (Paris & Britney), get drunk and have sex with anyone or everyone and if you're unlucky have someone tape it and distribute it (Lindsay, Paris, & Tara Reid). Having sex has become a badge of honor. I read articles or see news reports about high school and middle school students having sex in the classroom or in the hallways or with teachers at least once a week.
What happened to the American society of only a generation or two ago? Why has it become acceptable to be sexually active at such a young age? In writing this response I have just had a thought. I think that perhaps the media is so incredibly efficient that these stories are only being distributed to the masses today more so than in the past. I am sure that the problem is not as big as it seems. I truly hope that is the case.
One last point I'd like to get across. A mandatory cervical cancer prevention drug is bad policy. I understand that the drug may provide wonderful benefits, but think that when administered to young women it could send a signal to thse girls that it is ok to be sexually active. I hear the argument that girls at that age don't need to know what the shot is for, but that is discounting the intelligence of these girls and being extremely naive. People that are capable of organizing sex parties and rationalizing that oral sex is not really sex are capable of figuring out what the shot is for. The government needs to spend less time regulating the parenting of children and more time on more important issues.

I knew a family who lived an alternative lifestyle. They were nudists and swingers and did not hide it from their children. They did not involve their children in the lifestyle, but they did talk quite openly about it. Their daughter was a high school student at the time and one reason kids get into these things described above is quite often peer pressure. Since this girl was more sexually aware, not more active, but more aware than most 30 year olds, she did not have any peer pressure in school. She viewed most of what they did as juvenile, which it was. And, interestingly enough, if you did child/parent interviews of most of those kids you will probably find that the parents are conservative and did not talk to their kids about any of this because it was supposed to wait until they turned 18 or 21 or something. And yet 12 year olds are getting pregnant. Anyone see a correlation??

They need to be better educated at a younger age about the topic. Teens have been "doing it" out of wed-lock with multiple partners since my grandparents age (and probably earlier). The problem is children are not properly educated about sex and the risks involved. I, for example, had "sex ed." classes since sixth grade but those classes taught us eff all except that males and females have different sex organs. They should also have greater access to a sex counselor...somebody that they can go to privately if they have question, rather than experimenting with other kids.

It scares me to death because they are dabbling in an area that should be for adults...they don't realize all the things (especially the negative ones) that are associated with their decisions.
Recently I had a 16 yr old girl offer me sex....because she was attracted to older men... OMG I ran for the hills...lol. They don't realize they are dealing with fire. The next guy may say yes...... and he may not be a nice man.
This new sexual revolution scares me.... especially because of the pregnancy and disease issues.... and in some cases...it becomes a matter of life or death.

Teenage sex is something I'm okay with, as long you're at least 16. It's just the morons who don't bother to protect themselves.

My opinion is that this has been going on for several years, many, many years. Its just that now we have media, talk shows, & the "I don't care if the whole world knows" attitudes of the kids who are doing it.

My spouse and I allow all our teenagers to engage in sexual behavior as long as it is in our house....we know they are going to do it and we want the place they do it in to be safe. Imagining our 13 year old daughter as someone who enjoys oral was not our idea, but she does, and her boyfriend likes it, and as long as they are safe, we have no issues with it.
