Eye contact and a friendly smile always look confident.
Relax and be yourself; always be polite even if you're disagreeing with someone.
Never resort to insults and always admit it if you realise you're wrong.
I don't know any woman who finds arrogance sexy; it's a definite turn off. Would you want to go out with a self righteous bully? Believe me, women feel the same way.

It is CONFIDENT. And you can look confident by taking care of yourself, not talking too much about yourself (let other people call you the best, never call yourself the best!), don't be pushy but bring your point across, keep your head up, don't be shy and bashful, step out, be yourself at all times, don't be scared. Be honest. Never walk with your head down, SMILE!! Be realistic about yourself and others.
I am a woman and as far as I konw I don't think arrogance lands very good with anybody in the long-run. It is not a positive thing.

Arrogance is not needed; confidence, or at least the APPEARANCE of confidence is good. Walk tall to your full height with your back straight.
Be yourself, at least to the point you will not embarrass her in public or with her friends. Be polite, especially to service workers like wait staff at restaurants. Too often men think that by making others feel bad to show off their importance. Actually, being polite to people that are serving you makes you appear to be more important.
You said that your confidence makes you appear arrogant. You will need to tone down your confidence with a splash of politeness. You can most certainly be confident without being a jerk.
Part of this just comes with age and life experiences. I hope that you can "learn" this at an earlier age than some.
Good Luck!

Basically, confidence is arrogance without being up on a high horse, so if you tone it down some you should be fine.
It's not about backing down, it's about not being as high up.
Another way to say it is, the less your feathers ruffle, the better.
It works kinda like a dimmer switch so you may have to experiment a bit until you find an agreeable balance.

heh well i mean i dont mind a little cockiness here or there if theres a smile behind it.
i think the secret to confidence is knowing that you can do it without saying "geez, this stuff is so damn easy to me" or something along the lines of that. so if someone asks you if you know you can do it, you just reply yes and thats it. oh and no negative comments about yourself either =)

Confidence is when you have a good positive aspect of yourself. Arrogance to me is when you are over confident make out they are better than others, you and push it in your face. I say just relax?

Take care of yourself and don't be overly cocerned with what others think or say. That'll bring on a ton of confidence (or self-esteem, if you want to call it that). Stand up for what you believe in; never compromise your belief systems for anyone or anything. Women absolutely dig confident men, not wishy-washy indecisive boys.
People who call you arrogant are probably just jelous of your confidence. Don't back down.
