While it appeared to most onlookers that a sniper from above had killed Rogers, that one had only shot him in the shoulder. At the end of Captain America 25, it was revealed that Sharon Carter, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and former girlfriend of Rogers, had fired the fatal 3 bullets into him from close by after the first shot. She was not aware of this at the time, being brainwashed - ala 'Manchurian Candidate' - by Dr. Faustus, but at the end of the issue someone from the bad guys triggered a post-hypnotic recall, thereby letting Carter re-live her deed and driving her a little out of her mind.
Later, Tony Stark sat with Roger's corpse and had a guilt trip. After he brushed his crocodile tears away, he set a up a phony Cap at Rykers to trap the New Avengers. Wotta guy.
Sucks to be a friend of Captain America right now...

he was shot .
but he's not dead trust me on this one. the way they killed him was the exact same way dc tried to pretend like it had killed bruce wayne in issue 399. he was shot in the exact same fashion and later brought back.
its just a way to bring him back with super duper powers and all this new stuff so they can try and mess up one of the greatest heros EVER.
long time cap fan and i have every issue from 100 til now.

This is one of the reasons why I stopped buying comic books.
It's like the whole Death of Superman, and killing off of Jean Grey... AGAIN!
It doesn't really matter because we all know that they will bring them back in some form or another, which sucks ballz.
Marvel REALLY pissed me off when they killed off Psylocke from the X-Men. Bastards.

DAILY BUGLE REPORTS : Captain america is dead!!!! The daily bugle has just learned that cap has died from his wounds suffered from a assignation attempt earlier today it is not know at this time if one or more shots were fired at cap in this attempt nor is it known who the assassin was more to come as story develops........ Cap is not really dead this was done to protect him and hell remerge in about six months to revel that iron man paid villians to do the dirty work he shouldve done hisself
