i,m going to sharm el sheikh in the summer, what is the local beer called and will it do the biz?

There are 2 competing beer producing companies, the first one is Heineken, which locally produces and sells the following brands';
1- Heineken
2- Stella
3- Sakara
4 Mesiter

The second is called EgyBev it produces a single beer brand, but it is considered the best by far. The brand is called Luxor, it is new and a 100% local. Not a lot of people know Luxor yet and that is why everyone is just saying Stella, which has been in the market for over a 100 years, yet as a beer drinker, I honestly think it is poor.

Luxor has the classic variant with the regular 4.5% alcohol, a strong beer called XXX with 10% alcohol and it tastes great, Wezien variant which is popular amongst german beer drinkers and last but not least Luxor Nuba which is a new dark beer (Guniness style).

It really depends on your preference when it comes to beer, but in general I would always go for a Luxor beer.

Egypt has great beer, same standard as europe or the states. I would have to say that the best beer is surely Luxor not Stella. Stella is an ancient brand, not consistent and only the poor people drink it, while Luxor is new and has different types of beer that is appreciated by the upscale community and foreigners.

seeing you are getting the p1ss takers on tonight ,we in luxor sell stella 4.5 %, sakarra 5.0 % but stella is the better beer all beers are brewed here in Egypt as is its excelent wine Omar kyam and obolisk red rose and white, very fruity taste, Egypt makes its own scotch vodka gin and cogniac but it all tastes the same similar to petrol so its advisable to go to the duty free within 48hours of arrival if not brought with you thats (for your own tipple) most of the hotels in sharm and the red sea resorts take their customers whisky and sell it back to you, if you gett my meaning, and if you drink enough of anything it will do the biz, I know i drink enough here in my hotel,in luxor and if you are in the area you will be most welcome to join me for a pint or two or threeetc etc, A welshman living in Egypt iechid da,
Ps be careful diving and drinking it makes the beer very weak.

جمل, أداة ْنتشال السفن is the beer and it is an average if slightly sour drink.
The spirits are a little more expensive but taste much better.
النار, تمطر السماء is by far the best and has one hell of a kick to it!
Don't have more than four unless you want to be airlifted to hospital with Alcohol poisoning!
