what would you do if you had a black belt test (for you and some of your friends were testing) and your sister's graduation (and all of your family was coming) on the same day, at the same time...what would you choose?

I can't take the test next year either, I'll be in college, and it's too far away.

Besides I want to be there for my friends as well.

My sister never would attend my black belt test or anything like that for me.

She's graduating from college, not from high school.

I am graduating from high school, and I don't know if she's attending my graduation.

I've attended many of her flute recetials, and her high school graduation.

Go to your sister's graduation. It only happens once in a lifetime. I don't know much about the martial arts, but I would be led to believe that you could always reschedule a black belt test.

Talk to your sister before choosing. Let her know your feelings, let her know that you really do not want to miss her graduation, you want to be there for her but also let her know your problems with your testing, you cannot retest, etc. I'm sure she would also want to be there for you.
If it were me, as long as someone from my family were at graduation, it would be fine with me. You don't need everyone to be there by sight. You know they will be thinking of you, you can get together and celebrate later together. Plan a time together after, a dinner or something to celebrate. Good luck

Attending your sister's graduation would be the right choice. You can test for black belt another time. I am sure she would want you to be present to share the joy of this memorable moment. Then she could be at yours when you acquire black belt status...works for both.

hmm that is a tough one. If you do miss your black belt testing, then you'll have to wait another year or so (am i right?) which would suck, but it is another chance. If you miss your sisters grad you may be frowned upon and wont get to see it other than pictures.

It's best to ask your sister what she would like, especially if the black belt means alot to you. If she sees this she'll understand. Besides, grad ceremonies are super boring. There is always the dinner you can go to.

Which is more important to YOU? What would make you happy? The black belt test can be done the week after or a month later... but not the graduation! ;)

Good luck!

Realistically, if your sister goes to a big, public high school..you'll see her go up to the podium and receive her diploma, which takes about 5 seconds. and the rest of the time you'll see all the other seniors receive theirs, which takes hours. Is your sister having a graduation party? To me, going to that is better than going to the actual graduation because you'll actually get to celebrate her graduation with your family, as opposed to just sitting in the bleachers listening to people's names being read off. If you really want to see the actual graduation ceremony, ask one of your family members to videotape it.
So yeah, i say go to your black best test, I think you'll find it more worthwhile.

i had this one concert for band, i'd have to say even now that it would have been the funnest concert i'd go to. my brother's graduation was on the same day, so i went to the graduation. trust me, it'll mean a lot to her.
hope this helped and good luck!

I'm leaning for the family thing, but that's just me.

Logic:
When you go off to college, your friends from now will likely go other ways, but your family will always be there.

Other notes: I am sorry you have to make this choice, but that's the way it is sometimes.
