The Aztecs are more correctly known as The Triple Alliance. They first settled in the Mexico City area in 1325.

The name of the capital was Tenochtitlan, and at its height, it was one of the most technologically advanced cities in the world.

The Aztecs were destroyed when Hernan Cortes teamed with the Tlaxcalan tribes to the east of Tenochititlan between 1519 and 1521. Smallpox was a major factor in destroying the Aztec empire.
