No, it is not illegal to buy a tank, provided it's armament has been removed or rendered useless. Tanks are generally sold by the government as scrap metal or for museum pieces.

Yes it is illegal to drive it on a public road/highway. The fact that the vehicle is tracked renders it a non-highway vehicle. The tracks would rip up the pavement (and anything else it crosses).

I would expect that tanks are considered combat vehicles and could not be legally driven by civilians at all. However even if that were not the case, they would probably still be illegal on roads because their metal treads and enormous weight would severely damage the roads. In fact, some large construction vehicles with metal treads are probably illegal on roads for the same reason.

A tank is an off road vehicle,you may own them but they cannot be driven on public roads just like an ATV.

Google is wealthy. even if it rather is against the regulation and the punishment is a great, they might have adequate money to pay it. I think of that this is coated under some form of exception for sorting out experimental automobiles.

Yes.....It would first have to pass all requierd safety laws...Seat belts, brakes, lights etc. Besides Tracked vehicles are not permitted on roads as the destroy them in time

I don't think you can buy a tank that is in running condition. And if you could, I would thing it is againest the laws in all states to run it on the highways.
