It means they have been released early and they are honour bound to keep there nose clean for what would have been the remainder of there sentence, else they will re-enter prison to serve the remaining time.

The license usually lasts for around 2 years.

It refers to any crime they have beeen sent to prison for.

It is a form of early release due to good behaviour, should he or she violate their parole in anyway they go back to serve their full term given by the presiding judge at the time. Prison's try to set an example by giving those who are warranted early release, treating as though they have not committed an offence....on release they still get a pep talk about how to behave with the public.

It's the equivalent of being on parole in the USA. If you commit any crime whilst on license you can be sent back to prison to complete your original sentence, this could mean if you dropped litter or were caught speeding if they really wanted to get tough with you, not just something more serious.

on licence means they have not completed the full term they were given and have been released early. but they are still owned by the prison so if they do anything wrong during there licence time they go straight back. you can be on licence for any crime from not paying your bills to murder if your in prison hope this helps
