We haven't met yet and we come from two different cultures - German and Asian. We have fallen terribly for each other just through the webcam, chatting and email. This has been going on for over four months now. We have both written each other passionate love letters. We have not met yet personally.

good for you guys .love is great .i would say the only cons are the long distance doesnt help alot of heartache over missing each other and after a while it gets old and the chance of one of you guys cheating is much higher .i wish you 2 luck and hope you guys see each other soon and mayb move a little closer to each other .remember if its meant to be it will be

Its very difficult to say how the other person is. Also, it depends on what dating site you met him or her on. There are some websites that are for serious people like eharmony, www.singleparents123.com and yahoo personals. There are others that aren't.
Also, you must meet the person to find out. Just don't run into getting married or anything. One of you can move to the other persons' city if you thing this serious and meet them more often. If you still are crazy for each other then you both can move in together.
Just don't rush things.

The pros are that you have gotten to know someone you otherwise never would have met. You have feelings for one another, what could be better.
The cons are that you can be whoever you want to be on the internet. You may both be being completely honest, but still, when you have an internet only relationship, it could be completely different when you meet in person. Also, is it feasible for the 2 of you to meet?

Chatting, emails and webcam are poor substitutes for meeting face to face and getting to know each other in person...not enough to go on, really, and is usually more of an attraction than real love. No foundation yet.

The pros are that you can get to know each other really well before meeting and make sure it is safe to meet them . You can chat for a long time before actually meeting or rushing into something like sex or marriage. However i would much rather meet the person asap as i would want to make sure that they are who they say they are and i want to make sure that the pics are what they really are and who they really are. But make sure you know them really well before actually meeting them in person for the first time. I would say wait at least another couple of months before actually meeting for the first time as this will be expensive to do so anyways. Try meeting each other halfway when you do meet and make sure it is at a public and safe place. good luck to the both of you.

Don't fall in love with a bunch of pixels. that was my sons quote. You don't know the person until you meet them. Until then they are just a buch of pixels not a person, you have fallen in love with an idea not a person. See what he's like as a real person, only on safe neutral ground.

pros: you may have found your one true love.
CONS: it could all be a scam. Anyone can tell you what they want you to believe, especially since you have no history together. You never know, the other person could already be married, have children, be a conartist... have them investigated first.
