The critic would be of more value. You selected your course of action because you thought it would be the best. A supporter merely reflects your own preference, and therefore adds no value. A critic would provide input as to problems, pitfalls, or consequences you clearly did not see when you selected your course of action. Therefore, generally, a critic is more valuable.

As a child, I would appreciate all the support I could get; but, as an adult I could value "constructive" criticism.
Whether it is coming from a critic or a supporter, honesty is "still" the best policy. Neither of the two is actually better than the other.

Honestly, its nice to have support, but constructive criticism is nice in the sense that it helps you learn areas in which you can improve. Its just difficult in that situation just to get your feelings hurt. Just remember they might not be actually criticizing you as a person, just your actions which may in turn help you in the long run.

If we lived in an ideal world, we would value our critics quite highly--supporters often tend to be "yes men," while our critics challenge us to carefully think through and reevaluate our ideas and decisions.
But we don't live in an ideal world, and if we were to be perfectly honest about it, most of us would admit to valuing our supporters most highly.

I would value a critical supporter becase you don't want someone to pacify you and not tell you the truth. You also don't want someone to kill your spirit just because their a critic. that's why you want someone who is a critical supporter, because they are in your corner and won't lie to you.
