They already do 99% of the time. Every fear (even a minor one) that is conquered or ignored is a moment of rational vs. irrational. That how we have tall buildings, airplanes, dams, and exploration.
Every time one self-sacrifices for the greater good is rational victory. That's why we have cops, soldiers, and gargage men.
Every time justice and knowledge is used in place of vengence and ignorance, rationality was victorious. That's why we have courts, schools and civilization.
Rational thought is victorious over emotion every time ones rolls out of a comfortable bed to go to work, or stops at the traffic light when they are in a hurry, or . . . .
Humans control their emotions 99.9% of their lives through their everyday actions and interactions. Give credit where credit is due.

DO you mean---will there ever be a mechanisim placed in out brains to control our emotions? THat must be what you mean, because human irrationailty is just apart of us. Heck we all get irrational about one thing or the other, but wouldnt you agree it makes our world interesting. ANd think, if we were irrational or suspicous and ambitious or high falutent about our emotions, what amazing love songs wouldnt we be able to hear to day, or fiery speeches wouldnt rock our minds, or powerful or terrifying quotes rattle our hearts and spirits. THink about it--how interesting would a world with controlled emotions be?

I know that everyone has different beliefs but I believe that having emotions is part of what makes us human. Imagine how boring life would be if we all acted rationally all of the time. Imagine if we were all like Mr. Spock from Star Trek? Wouldn't that make things rather dull? Just my humble opinion.

What kind of beings would we be without emotions? Living life without the occasional emotional outburst isn't really life. The driving force behind our nature is emotion. Pity the hollow being that denies thier emotions for fear of what others think.

Logic needs basic premises to build rational systems. Emotions provide those premises. They are foundational, and therefore would be the motivation for anyone desiring to control them. Do you see the paradox here?

Some people do this quite regularly. If people didn't control their emotions to some degree, then most people would give in to any emotion. Pretty scary if you're talking about negative emotions. We don't need anymore suicide bombs, etc.

As long as you learn to humble yourself and realize that your life is to be live by worshiping God, our creator. Because He is Holy, and deserves to be respected as Holy. All things are possible through Christ Jesus. We can do nothing without Him.
