Without using antacid meds? These cause weight gain and terrible constipation. I know it from experience. The symptoms indicate an ulcer, but I wonder if some other med will treat it rather than the typical ones and will not have such side effects. I don't believe in home remedies as they have never worked for me.

Like the other poster said, stop taking ibuprofen, aspirin, naproxen as these can worsen an ulcer. I would recommend starting to take Priolec OTC until you can get in to see your doctor. Most ulcers are caused by a bacteria called H Pylori or helicobacter pylori and require an antibiotic to be given in conjunction with a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) like Prilosec for 6 weeks in order to heal. Many people are carriers of H Pylori and can never completely get rid of it and may have occasional ulcers their whole lives so getting a physician to follow it closely is suggested. Good luck.

Uhm..since when did TUMS make one gain weight? If the symptoms indicate an ulcer, you need to consult your health care provider!!! I cannot stress that enough, stay away from any NSAIDS, i.e Ibuprofen,Aleve,Motrin,Aspirin. These are blood thinners and are a no-go if you have an ulcer.
If you have an ulcer or think you may, be on the look out for new symptoms such as: bloody stools, black tarry stools, or throwing up contents that look like coffee grounds.

*** If you experience this go to the ER straight away. A bleeding ulcer is nothing to sneeze at,and could perforate the stomach wall, this is life threatening! Yet the treatment is so simple.***

Be Well!
