You dont say how well you know Birmingham or Small heath, I would suggest you have a good look round the area before you consider it, check out how many other take aways there are, see how much business they all get, and obviously see if there are any other Fish & Chip Shops, Its a vibrant multi cultural area, and you would probably find that you needed to offer a more diverse menu than a traditional Fish & Chip shop, that way you would cater to the tastes of all the local residents.

I don't see why not. btw it would be an english fish and chip shop as it's in Birmingham unless you mean birmingham Alabama- then it would be an American fish and chip shop!

There's no money in them nowdays. My sister worked for a guy who had two of them, both in a seaside resort a few miles apart.

The cost of potato's are through the roof these days, fish is extortionate, labour and everything else cost related is adverse against competition.
They both ran on near empty for years before he gave up and sold them.

I don't think you will get enough business mate - why not try opening another Indian or Kebab shop

You should move somewhere where you can still get fish & chips!!
