I am considering taking this type of ginseng for fatigue but the box I have of 30 tinctures, 10 ml each. I am worried because the strength is 4500 mg. The box recommends for you to take one a day, before bed or in the morning. Has anyone had any experience with ginseng? I hear taking gensing while drinking green tea may be pointless. Some of the literature that I have found online recommends one to take only 100 to 200 mg per day. Any thoughts?

This is the link to the product I have:

Dosage: Select a product that is standardized to contain at least 7% ginsenosides.

For general health and combating fatigue: Take 100 to 250 mg Panax ginseng once or twice a day.

To support the body in times of stress or during recovery from an illness: Take 100 to 250 mg twice a day.

Guidelines for use - Start at the lower end of the dosage range and increase your intake gradually. Some experts recommend that you stop taking ginseng for a week every two or three weeks and then resume your regular dose. In some cases, ginseng may be rotated with other immune-stimulating herbs, such as astragalus or Siberian ginseng.

It depends on your weight, and the way your body metabolizes things. Everyone is different. Some people feel no effect from ginseng, others get very hyper and anxious from it, while others can actually feel more tired.

Panax, is one of the more mild types of ginseng, less likely to cause negative side effects.

It is important when taking herbs to make sure that they are standardized, meaning, the level of potency of the active ingredient in them is the same in every capsule or drop etc. Otherwise, your dosing can never really be exact, & the herb may not be effective at all.

Clinical studies on panax ginseng have shown effectiveness of ginseng extract standardized to 4% ginsenosides (<--- active ingredient) at a dosage of 200 to 500 mg per day.

When taking any medicine, whether natural or not, I always begin with the smallest recomended dose and add more if I feel I need to from there. It's better to have no effect than too much.

It is not a good idea to rely on any type of medicine to keep you awake for extended periods of time (more than a few days in a row), either it will take a toll of some kind on your body, or it will simply just stop working and you'll take more & more to have the same effect until it eventually takes a toll on your body.

You should try to look into why your fatigue is happening and remedy that in a more natural way such as sleeping more or having better quality sleep, proper nutrition, exercise, and reducing stress.

Nutrients good for stress are B & C vitamins as well as healthy fats.

Oh THOSE!

Those can be very strong if they are fresh.

If they are old, they make me feel a lot like poor quality old burnt coffee would make you feel if you were to drink it.

If I personally have more than 1/4 to 1/3 of a vial of them, I get hyper and anxious and then tired much like I would with caffein. (I weigh 112lb, but I am very sensitive to herbs and medications.)

If taken in small quantities like 1/4-1/3 of the vial though, they can give me good, healthy feeling energy.

Over time, if I take them for a few days in a row the dosing gets trickier for me. I'll need more & will feel negative side effects similar to if I drink coffee. Achiness, & depleted feelings. Thats me though.

Hope I didn't ramble on too much LOL =)

Hope this helps

One a day is the recommended dosage of 10 ml liquid. It should be taken 30 min. before your lowest energy period during the day. Donot take it before you go to bed because it will keep you awake for 4 hours, thats what it does, it boosts your energy levels for 4 hours, along with your immune system so you are less likely to catch cold, virus and flu. Its a wonderful product and I take it everyday.
