How much does it cost to live in southern California?

I've been thinking of moving. How much is a nice small condo for a single person? How about renting a nice inexpensive apartment in a good part of town?

Renting is the most reasonable, buying is VERY expensive. A small condo for a single person is a MINIMUM of $400K or more, we're talking about a converted apartment for $400K

Rent is $1200 a month? The cheapest house is at least $700K

UNLESS you live REALLY far away, and spend 2 hours driving anywhere.
