I just realized that almost none of my makeup says "against animal testing" or "not tested on animals" on it, but I'm very against animal testing. Do any of you know any good (and inexpensive) brands of makeup that don't test on animals???

There is a good list and a bad list. Most companies decided years (if not decades) ago to invest in alternative methods of testing. Some drugstore brands, like Revlon and Almay, are being responsible. Unfortunately, brands like L'Oreal, Shiseido, Max Factor, Cover Girl, Maybelline and Oil of Olay refuse to stop. I, personally, wrote L'Oreal about this issue and they sent me a PDF that basically stated that they are finally looking for alternatives because the European Union is forcing them to. They did nothing on their own. L'Oreal owns Lancome, Redken, etc so their reach into the beauty business is huge.
I applaud your efforts in trying to be a compassionate person. I have stopped using those products myself within the last year. I now use Mary Kay. Clarins, Bobbi Brown and DHC. I pick up Almay and Revlon at the drugstore.

To <3--- , Urban Decay is NOT tested on animals and are strictly against it. Off the top of my head, these are the makeup companies that I KNOW test: L'oreal Rimmel London Sally Hansen Neutrogena Max Factor Covergirl Maybelline You can usually Google it by typing in "is _____ tested on animals"

Look up The Body Shop's website. I know they don't sell anything which has been tested on animals, but I believe they take it further than that and don't allow ingredients which are morally unsound either. They also contribute to many environmental and pro-animal foundations. They have terrific products and are a sound choice ethically and morally. Plus their founder and head of business is a woman.

Lola Makeup does NO animal testing and is 100% vegan too!! So all of their product ingredents are natural and all of their lipglosses are made with the plant they are named after.. I have tried a lot of different brands and for someone who wants an all natural approach w/ no animal testing - Lola is awesome!! ( PS -- For whoever said "what's up with you and animal testing" IT'S CRUEL!...oh but other than that..nothing I guess.jerk..)

The following don't test on animals: Revlon, Almay, Maybelline (subsidiary of company that does test, but Maybelline itself does not, Bonne Bell, and Burts Bees.

Mac does animal testings but they deny it!
try aveda...i talk for a while to a worker about animal testing and how their makeup is really pure

The Body Shop.
Their colours are as bright as mac, the foundation/powders are amazing, the gloss aint that bad altho doesnt last as long as MAC, blush is bright too, eyeliners are the best cos its really really soft. brushes are soft.
on the whole not that bad AND very organic/environmentally friendly/community thinking!

What are you trying to hide with the makeup? I have met many women and everyone of them are beautiful without makeup. I think women use makeup mostly to out-do other women. But maybe I am wrong.
