There will be 22 episodes in total. The title of the season finale is "Phantom". Last Thursday was the 16th episode this season, "Promise"

I think 16 episodes with Promise being the last one. Did you see Promise? Many Smallville devotees said it sucked on a SodaHead poll I saw.
Should Smallville will live past the 7th season?

Having all the previous sets they usually run to about 22 episodes. Without giving any spoilers I think Season 6 is the weakest so far - very disappointing
