I have no idea why. I don't, it annoys me, mainly I hate it because none of them seem original. They all seem to have the same background music to that crap. I'd take Manson over Master P anyday.

Why do people like Rock and Roll, Country, Jazz, Punk, Grundge, Bluegrass, R&B, Blues, Classic, Instrumental and other music? Because they like it. People just like what they want. I can't stand rap either for what it's turned into but rock and roll sucks now too so... As far as talent in music you find that mostly in the Pop and R&B category.
Rock singers don't produce a negative image just as much as rappers? Uh...drugs, alcohol, sex with minors, devil-worshipping and suicide ring a bell? Don't limit it to just rap. Be fair and include everything wrong in music to make a valid point on this subject. I can't stand rap myself but even I think just picking rap out and making everything else seem wonderful is nonsense. People like what they want. I like what I want and wouldn't care about others' tastes myself. If you don't like it, why do you care why others do? It won't hurt your world in anyway right?

couple things only some rap is bout those things you listed mainly mainstream **** and all the crappy modern day rappers we got today.
thats true, rappers dont play their own instrumentals, but GOOD rappers in that place got something that is very rare specially now days, they got mad word play, know how and when to drop ill similies and metaphors, can rhyme words with ACTUAL RELEVANCE and not just start dropping random words that rhyme, can start dropping ill UNREHEARSED and ORIGINAL bars wherever they are and can present this all in the form of a story or personal experience. most of the good rappers who have this skill are born with it and dont work for it, but none the less they got this skill and use it ot reach out to their peoples who is in the position they was in 5 years ago before they got out.
dont go and hate all rap just cause of some **** you heard dont be ignorant and limit what you listen to just cause of one bad experience and even if you dont like rap dont be disrespectful and start slamming the culture and people which rap is a part of, you dont see bob slamming rock just cause bob dont listen to it or understand it do you? what if bob was to say rock is about suicide, whorshiping the devil and screaming? thats just the sterotype people who dont understand rock think, but in reality you know thats more to it.

I'm not too Keen on Rap, but My Husband really likes Hip-Hop. He likes it because he enjoys the beats and he likes the stories some of them are telling.
Not all of Rap/Hip-songs evolve around women and objectifying them, or sing about really "bad" things....
You have to keep in mind where most of these Rappers came from....You and I can not even imagine what they have seen...Many of them as children see Death and Rape and Murder...They've seen many things that they really shouldn't...These things should NOT be happening...They are trying to tell their stories and explain how hard and bad living in the Ghetto really is...

I personally don't like rap because the "music" itself isn't my style and I also don't like the lyrics. I'm sure people who do like rap, like it for the same reasons other people like other types of music. Also, other styles of music have some pretty bad lyrics so it seems odd that most people just target rap for the content.
