All that I'm trying to say is that Italy got a lucky last minute penalty kick against Australia in the round of 16. Even If they went to Extra time, Australia had the advantage because Italy had one man less and Australia were dominating them throughout the entire match. Don't get me wrong, Italy is a great team, but they didn't deserve to go that far.

Most of you guys are retarded, I don't really care who won, I was for the Argentina team anyway. Im not complaining, just saying Italy might have not gone that far if It wasn't for that Penalty. Im just bringing something up for debate, I didn't know so many people can be stupid.

Im actually glad Italy won Australia, I would have rathered seen big countries in the finals rather than countires like Ukraine or Australia, no offense; but most of you idiots probally don't know what I am trying to say.

And according to the stats of the game Australia possessed the ball 60% and Italy 40%, Why don't you lay off the "pipe" remarks and rewatch the game.

i'm on neither side, i'm with Spain, and i was with neither in the final, i think italy were definitely lucky for playing against easy teams throughout the tournament, while france faced hard teams like Spain, brazil, portugal..although i'm against france for cheating in the france-spain match, henry dived in the center of the field, a freekick was given and they scored, the score became 2-1.

anyways, i really wanted Spain and Argentina in the final, honestly, since both are my favorite (argentina my 2nd favorite) ;)

I'm Australian and I do understand what you are attempting to discuss. Things like that happen in football every day, in every league though, it's all part and parcel of the game. I wouldn't say that Australia were dominating, though the possession stats indicate that, but they were playing above their expectations and finding a degree of control as the game went on, and Italy despite what their supporters say here were not dominating either. If Australia were not playing well, as some here are saying, then it should have been no problem for Italy to overcome Australia even with a man disadvantage and it certainly would not have been reliant on a dubious penalty with 5 seconds to go. You can't change the result and WC's do have a degree of luck associated with them whomever ends up winning. You just learn from things and put that into a positive experience and move along to the next step. I'm surprised at the inobjectivity of some comments to your question.

Wow, the anti-italians are gonna have a ball with this one...

I know that everybody has different opinions, but you know, Australia were not dominating the match. So there's no point in discussing all of the possibilities that could have happened, because its simply over and done with.

Italy had an absolutely phenomenal performance, and they have the World Cup to prove it.

Oh okay, yeah I do understand what you are trying to say now lol :) But my opinion is that there are so many viewpoints though, and you know how PK's are always so controversial!

the fact is, they won. theres nothing wrong with them getting lucky, thats a perfectly legitimate reason for scoring a goal. i cant believe that 9 months later, people are still crying and looking for excuses why italy didnt deserve to win. the world cup is over already, no matter how much ppl argue and complain it wont change a thing. italy will still be the winner . the world cup is the biggest event in international soccer, but after all's said and done, its still just a game. i suggest you get over it and move on to more important issues, such as your own life.

edit: good anser farez :)

I think Italy wanted to win more than any of the other teams. That's why they won. Let it go. What matters is the final score and the final score shows that Italy won the World Cup.

Stop the whining, Italy won and deservedly so, the losers always say we should of won - just look at the Dallas Mavericks. It's time to move on, 2006 is history and Italy was the champion. 2010 is what you need to talk about. ENOUGH SAID.
