I hear great things. It has one of the highest percentages of people with college degrees. There is lots of diversity including a big asian population. The city is plenty progressive. You won't be seeing any cross burnings or neo-nazi parades over there. That's for sure. And its right next to the sea. The only thing that sucks is the cost. Too many people want to live in California including me. Texas, except Austin, bites.

To the guy talking about morals...

You mean right-wing conservative morals like those found in the bible belt south, where people fought to defend slavery, fought against civil rights, and tried to keep women in the kitchen? You mean those? No thanks.

I lived there for 9 years and all I can say is NO!!!!!! The parts of SF you see in the movies are always the same neighborhoods. They leave out the swath of the streets that have mile after mile of bums, prostitutes, public sex, public defecation, urination and vomiting. Lets not forget shooting up and smoke crack in public. Then there are the porno stores advertising their wares in the windows. Then there are the thought police who make sure that you don't ***** about the above list. If you insist on moving to the Gay Area; go to Berkeley, Hayward, North Oakland, Oakland Hills, Marin County or the wine country. SF is no place to raise a child unless you are rich enough to move to Pacific Heights, the Marina, Cow Hollow, Russian Hill, North Beach. The cheapest nice neighborhood is the Richmond. I would never want my child being brought up in SF unless I was a bonifide sexual deviate

If you are a flaming liberal then it is the place for you. But if you are looking for a moral, conservative place for a family then this is definitely not the place. California school have also been taken over by the liberals and the regulations involved are ridiculous. This city is amazing to visit but sucks to live in.
