My 8 yr. old has to do a shoebox diorama about hurricanes. I've searched the web for some unique idea's and havent found anything worthwhile. Any ideas on how we can make this really cool?? Thanks alot!!

Hey country girl,

Put a picture in the background of a hurricane scene, and in the foreground (in the box) there are several possibilities.

One would be to view it sideways and hang things from one side. Make people look at it by bending sideways to see all the stuff flying around. In fact you can take a picture of it that way then turn the picture so it looks like stuff flying.

Or, Glue stuff that looks like it is flying around. A house with the roof comming off, etc.

Hi There, I have an idea for you. But first of all, as a teacher I must say that I'm appalled your son's teacher is having him make a diorama. This is really old school thinking and is not a tool for building literacy. Anyone out there read a good book and then think "That book was so great - I'm going to make a diorama to go with it!" Not authentic learning at all! So sorry, just had to squeeze that in there. Anyway - what about small balls of rolled up playdoh for the torso and head and then cut off the ends of toothpicks for arms? Best of luck with your diorama! :)
