I went last week ( 3/12/07 to 3/16/07) and I was on a budget. I wrote down all the expenses, I went there for 4 days and spent 2 days in Disneyworld ( Magic Kingdom and Epcot). We were two adults and our expenses in Magic Kingdom were:
Parking: $10
Lunch in tomorrowland: $14 ( for two)
ice cream, 1 scoop ( in main street) : $ 5.50 ( for two)
Dinner ( the restaurant was called Pinocchio) : $15.53 ( for two.
total: 45.03
Epcot:
Parking: $10
Lunch in Japan (world showcase): $17 ( for two)
Total: 27.00
we did not stay in Epcot for dinner. I found the restaurants in the world showcase very expensive; nevertheless, in USA you can have french fries and chicken strips for $7.00 per person. There is a Mcdonalds at the end of the world showcase Canada side ( I didn't check the prices). We carried bottles of cold water with us and refilled them (as many others did) in the water fountains, so we did not spent in beverages in the parks.
Our room had a small refrigerator and we bought some stuff for our breakfast, you can do the same.
I don't know how but we managed the money very good, we did not buy any souvenirs. The money was mostly for our food. In total, we spent:
day 1 arrival, lunch and grocerie shopping : $56.
day 2 (magic kingdom):$ 45.03
day 3 universal studios: $ 44.72
day 4 epcot: $89.00 ( we had dinner in an Orlando restaurant)
day 5 departure: $ 00 in Orlando.
Let me know if that helps. I am glad to help you.

The one thing I would say is that food will be the last thing on either of your minds : ) I couldn't stop my daughter or niece long enough to sit down and eat. And don't overbuy. Like many other restaurants they serve rather large portions and a lot of "value" meals. Plus, most of the food I ate in the parks was pretty nasty. I didn't stay at Disney so the only dinner we had in the park was Dinner with Cinderella. Again, the food was pretty nasty, but the girls loved it. There are a lot of great reasonably priced restaurants outside the parks.

Hi! I'm a single mom of three and we just returned from Disney World this past weekend. My best advice to you and your son is to eat before you arrive to the park and pack your own water! Also, I saw several parents with already made sandwiches in their backpacks. Everything is very pricey! Here are some prices I recall:
Hot Dog - $7.95
Mickey Moust Hat Ears - $10.95
Water (8oz) - $3.25
Chips - $3.50
Disney t-shirts - from $18.00 - $30.00
Turkey Leg - $5.95
Chicken strips - $8.95
Cokes - $2.50
Ice Cream & Popsicles - $3.00
Stroller Rental- $18.00
Best of luck!

A trip to Disney is a wonderful thing, but not cheap... If you are staying on Disney property, you will find food to be your biggest expense - unless you go really wild on the souvenirs. We have found it helpful to bring along food - cereal, slices of bread in a container, peanut butter and jelly, snacks, etc. Your room may have a refrigerator in it, depending on the resort, and if it doesn't, it can be worthwhile to rent one ($10/night - if your child has medication that needs to be refrigerated, they will often give you one free). You can buy milk and other supplies at your hotel to keep in your room. You may also want to check out the meal plan - we haven't used it, but I understand it can help save money. Have a wonderful trip!

as far as food it is much cheaper to eat at the snack counters instead of the restaurants...if you have a hotel with free breakfast take advantage of that and then just get snack foods like pretzels hotdogs nachos to tide you over then have a bigger supper but eat early like 4 if you do this you could do just 1 bigger meal a day and save tons of $ If its just the 2 of you, youll need probably 60-75 a day...also buy a bottle of water and just keep filling it up at the water fountains instead of buying pop....i always try to budget a little higher just in case...

Bring money or eat before you get there, hotdog and coke cost is close to $8.00. Universal is offering adminsion to both their parks for less than a 1 day pass at Disney.
