If I were Matt Millen? What did I do to you that you would wish such a horrible thing on me? No one, no matter what they did, would deserve that. Being a 3rd Gen Lions fan, I am so gun shy of QBs in the draft now they are out of the question. Can't pick a WR cause we've picked what 217 in a row in the first round? I would pick a player I think would be able to make an impact this year. Probably a D lineman, either Adams out of Clemson or Branch out of Michigan. I would debate on O lineman, only Thomas out of Wisconsin. I think I would shop the pick a little but I don't think there would only be nibbles as I don't think there is a huge stand out worth it for other teams to trade up. Right now this second, I think I would grab Adams.

Because it is Millen there is no telling but he may have given us a big clue this week of who he likes if he doesnt trade the pick. Every team in the NFL believed that Kevin Curtis would sign...he said as much himself. He wanted to re-unite with Martz and there is little question the Lions have very little in receiving help beyond Roy Williams (lets face it...they used a converted DB who was cut to be their second option). That has to raise the red flag that Millen is thinking Calvin Johnson.

Now to answer if i were Millen....here is what i would do: Trade the pick to either the Dolphins (seem the most likely trading partner right now), Vikings or the Texans. All have top 10 picks and the lions hired a defensive whiz (Marinelli) so they should draft to his strength and go defense. Their linebacking is horrendous (Ernie Sims played well, none of the others are anything more than backups at best) but there doesnt appear to be any linebackers worthy of a top 10 pick so they need to go with a D-tackle and it has to be either Allan Branch or Amobi Akoye. Myself it would be Okoye...only 19 and already physically dominant and the smartest kid in this draft, too much upside to pass on. Then use the extra picks to add an offensive lineman (2nd round...Joe Staley?) and linebackers or look to someone like Drew Stanton in the 2nd. Bottom line is the management has not drafted to the coaching strengths, now is the time to put faith in Marinelli and give him the tools he wants instead of filling Millens ego (remember when they drafted Joey BlueSky....Mornhinweg was so pissed he refused to attend the press conference).

And with the 2nd pick in the 2007 draft the Detroit Lions pick.........Calvin Johnson...WR...Georgia Tech (just being realistic, Millen will tank another draft)

I'm a Lions fan. [yeah, one of the 10 that are left] The Lions NEED this pick to be an instant star player. They've wasted their picks on the past on bust after bust, or players that don't reach their draft potential.

That said, Joe Thomas is the player that can make the biggest immediate impact. Shoring up the O-line with a solid gold lineman will make the passing game and the running game better. It might be a bit of a risk considering the Lions made a 1st round pick on Wisconsin tackle Aaron Gibson years ago and he busted, but its the best option.

In the 2nd round, Jeff Smoker should be available and he's probably just a slight notch below Brady Quinn in terms of NFL potential.

First I would see what the Raiders do. If they pick JaMarcus Russell or if they trade Randy Moss and they take Calvin Johnson. Then see if another team wants to move up and trade for more picks. I'd personally pick a QB because you can get lineman in the later rounds, but you won't find the QB talent. But honestly any pick that they make is going to be an improvement.

If I were Matt Millen, you say.

hmm... If I were Matt Millen I would waste the pick on another useless wide reciever or a sub-par QB. That would be true to type.

The Lions are terrible because they don't have a quarter back. With the second pick they need to take either JeMarcus Russel if he's not already gone or Brady Quinn.

Draft Joe Thomas, unless they can get a really good deal for their draft pick. If they get a lower draft pick out of a good deal draft Levi Brown. Offensive lineman are key to a good offense.

they should trade their pick for a good offensive lineman and a first round pick so they can get a cornerback
