When I first got my hamster he did that too, and he'd squeal every time i picked him up. I was talking softly and being gentle with him so I know I wasn't hurting him. He wasn't used to be handled, or even around people, so he was petrified. Your hamster is scared too. it's not used to you, it doesnt know what your intentions are. You'll just need to be patient. Keep holding and talking to your hamster. Offer it treats, be patient but persistant, and soon it'll be begging at the cage door to get out every time you come in the room.

I had a hamster that squeaked really loud when I talked to it. ^^

It's just not used to the 'noise' of your voice, and it gets startled, and the only thing it can to is squeak.

How long have you had him....do you hold him, are you aggressive when you hold him.........it could be that he finds you as a predator, and is warning you that he will get you. Does it bite

Talk softer, you may be hurting it's ears.
