Nickel and copper are known as chalcophiles. That means that the will bond with sulfur easily to form a sulfide. There are many other metal that will do this, Fe (pyrite) Pb (galina), Zn (sphalerite), Ag (acanthite) are a few. These minerals are an important economic resource.
