It depends on your tastes. I liked the movie. I thought it was interesting how everyone's lives were connected via an object.

The Japanese girl was funny in my opinion. The one thing I hated was how the movie ended. Maybe I missed something, but I do think the movie is worth your time.

I didn't think the subtitles were a problem. The problem came with the movie itself. It just WASN'T good like some critics thought. The only saving graces of the film were the performance from the Japanese actress (which would have made a neat movie on its own) and the hotness that is Gael Garcia Bernal. Go ahead and take it out. If you want to watch a social commentary, rent Crash instead. It still wasn't eye-opening for me (I knew before watching it that racism was bad, lol), but it was a decent film overall. Plus you don't have to read subtitles. :)

I adored it. You'll get used to the subtitles because the film makers use a clever tactic called "universal language". This is a language that everyone from around the world understands. You'll catch on quickly, and from there the rest of the movie is amazing. I think it deserved best picture over The Departed (although I would have loved Little Miss Sunshine to win)

Babel is four parallel storylines. They don't all start at the same place so it can be a bit confusing at first but there's a method to the confusion. There's a common denominator to the stories and once you get into it, it's not hard to figure out. It's a good film.

No, I saw it at the theater and kept wanting to hit the fast forward button. Can't imagine why it was up for Best Picture.
