Well, I've always cleaned my small rodents without gloves. And so far I haven't had any problems.
You can litter train hamsters like cats. Just put litter in a box ,not to tall or big and place it where she usually pees. but she'll still do her poo's everywhere.
Don't feed her any meats ever. She'll start biting you thinking your food.
And make sure you feed her plenty of vegetables and fruit.
Oh ya, and give her hay, they love making a nest out of it.

it is very rare to catch a disease from a hamster but THEY can easily catch them from us, so please dont handle them and use hand sanitizer when u r sick. hand sanitizer is always a good idea after handling or cleaning. or u can buy disposable gloves from the $1 store if u prefer. $1 for 100.

use carefresh or aspen bedding. there shouldn't be any odor if u clean the cage often enough. scoop out the pee corner ever other day.

to keep them healthy add hamster vitamins to their water. dont stress them by waking them. let them run in a hamster ball every night. the bigger the cage the better. u can feed them fruit/vegs as suggested above but not plenty. just a small 1/2 inch piece every other day or so. carrot, apple, broccoli, etc.
