No saying we're talking about a human baby. Maybe it was a Bush Baby, some little monkey or marsupial child that was more than happy up there. Maybe it found a cradle that someone had discarded in a tree, curled up, went to sleep and dreamed little monkey/marsupial dreams before coming to earth with a bit of a bump. So it rubbed its bruised little bottom, climbed back up the tree and went back to sleep, much like I should be doing round about now and lots of folk on here who are staying up too late! Are you listening? It's past your bedtime!!!!!!!

I've often thought about how awful this song was. Why do we even sing it to kids to put them to sleep. It's a song about a baby falling out of a tree. The person who wrote it probably had triplets that were keeping them up all night and made them dilusional or something. Someone had issues with babies.

If you listen to the whole song it is very morbid: Rock a bye baby in a tree top, when the wind blow the cradle will rock, DOWN COMES BABY CRADLE AND ALL. The baby is throw out of the tree and I don't think it can survive that kind of fall.

Rock a bye baby
on the tree top
when the wind blows
the cradle will rock

When the bow breaks
the cradle will fall
and down will come baby
both cradle and all

I had to do a project on this a while ago. Native Americans use to do that and let the wind rock the kids to sleep.
