There is only one to pick if you have the cash. Martin. I've been to quite a few guitar stores. Most everyone says try "try this guitar. It sounds like a Martin." Buy the best if you can.

Taylor, Takamine, or Gibson make great guitars. I'd suggest a Lyle, which is what I play, but they don't make them anymore. Takamines are good, my mom has one, and a friend of mine has both a Taylor and a Gibson.
