When you reach adulthood. Your parents would probably rather you did run away, but it ain't legal. They have to put up with you until you are an adult. Pity.

It is never legal to runaway from home. If you are having problems at home with your parents, the best remdy is to lay the problems aout and speak how you feel. Staying at home it is better than being on your own. When you leave or runaway from home, you will be miserable, and will struggle through your years, so don't put yourself through that. Make a good future for yourself. If you still feel that is is not going to solve the problem. Once you turn 17 join the military and you will be away from home and still have a good future.

It depends on what state you're in. Check with your local laws. In NYS for example you can legally "runaway" at the ripe old age of 15. Other states its 16, 17, and the old 18. So, double check with your local police department, although I'm sure they wont recommend the decision, they will tell you the correct age for your state.

If you live in the U.S...
At 18 you can leave home, rather you can support yourself or not (although, I can’t imagine why an 18-year-old would leave home if they can’t provide for themselves).
You can leave before turning 18 without needing parental consent only if you’ve been emancipated in some manner such as marriage (requires parental consent), joining the military (which you can do at 17 only WITH parental consent), or court decree (there are MANY requirments for it, and it is RARELY granted). Being pregnant/becoming a parent does NOT emancipate a minor in any state.

If ones home life is that bad in their mind or reality - why don't they instead get themselves a child advocate to legally have them emancipated from their parents. Thereby the child can be either placed elsewhere (foster care), or if you're 16, working and able to care for yourself, you can file in court to do so.

When you turn 18 and your parents break the plate and tell you to get your lazy butt out of the house.
