the users do to convince Yahoo Answers to clean this place up?

I posted this in the politics section because this is where I have observed the multiple accounts and the point gaming.

Meathook, I care because this type of activity ruins the experience for other Yahoo Answer users.

To the Next JFK, I did that before and lost my original account. There seems to be no consistency regarding enforcing the TOS.

To Duh, I am flattered but not that young. I do have better things to do and I do them but I am one of those people who feel the need to speak up when things are not on the up and up.

It would be so much better if yahoo would just do their jobs. I have e mailed them many times about trolls and point gamers. I have used their forums and suggestion boards. Nothing seems to work. Maybe this troll works for yahoo. Hmmm.

When the get rid of the multiple personality CTs, I'll be happy.

Here's a thought. If you ask a question, make sure you pick a best answer (that way a multiple cannot vote for themself).

I wish there was a way to stop the same question from being posted more than once or twice a day (like, who is the worst President, ever).

Maybe Y/A can have 'Multiple Amnesty Day' and allow multiples to merge their accounts, at the cost of 1,000 points.

It really doesn't make a whole lot of difference to me, what other people do, as long as they don't bother me, or make false accusations against me. I started coming on this forum, because I believe in the message I am trying to get across, and through this forum, I was blessed to meet someone who has brightened and uplifted my life. I still care about the message and the cause, of course, but I care even more about this person....and none of this petty stuff matters. He doesn't think it matters either, which is why he sometimes makes jokes about toaster ovens. The points are meaningless, and it is silly to cheat for these worthless points, but it is just as silly to worry about others that cheat, whether you do or don't cheat yourself. It is fun to ask and answer questions on here, but there is more to life than worrying about points. *sm*

It would seem to me that the software guys can make a simple adjustment -- by basically tracking the IP address the question-writer asked the question from, and forbidding answers and votes for that question from that address. That would stop a lot of it.

I am not a software guy so I don't know how hard it would be to implement.

It's a real shame that people just can't ask or answer a question without having to be insulted, and abused. I started to notice questions that were just ploys to get a negative reaction, which is basically a waste of time and energy, and so I always try to look at the askers profile to see 1. how long have they been a member? and 2. do their other questions/answers seem to have a common theme to them? or consistency with their answers. I'd like to see all those who could spot one of these "posers" just completely ignore their question. I'm trying to do that on my own.

I don't think I quite understand how having more than one Answers account helps someone gain points, but I do know some people hold muliple accts just to bust balls.

This is an outrage. I think we should all create hundreds of avatars,March on Washington, Spam about it for weeks using all the different avatars we have and blame 9-11 on my ex-wife thousands of times using all the different avatars. Then we'll file complaints on anyone who has a different point of view from each of the avatars. Maybe we can get Gottlos suspended. Oh, wait, that already happened.

Young Lady, I am sure there are more important things in your life than caring about people in Yahoo.

Life goes on and at the end of the day, you will still be beautiful.

The point gaming doesn't bother me, It's those who use multiple accounts to report people & get them suspended that is objectionable. If they want to cheat their way up the ladder, big deal. I don't know what it will take to get Y!A to clean things up. It's probably a lot harder than it lools. If someone creates multiple accounts using multiple names, how can Y!A ever know about it?

These yahoo trolls are their core constituency and will never crack down on them. During the day while most of us are contributing to the economy these morons are on Yahoo all day without them Yahoo would be a lonely place.
