Heh, if it says Ntldr error get your windows xp/ 2000 or vista disk ready and reinstall the os. If you ran a chkdsk, make sure it was a newer version which supports NTFS partitions, otherwise it may have moved something around..

Reason I say reinstall windows is because more then one file may have been moved/deleted and there could be tens, hundereds or more files which could have been moved so just replacing that file may not make the OS boot.

And no, it's not because of a virus and safeboot will not work.

That is not a good error to get. You may be able to fix it. If you have the OS CD you may be able to run the setup (do a repair) and recover. You may also have a hard drive that has decided it is time to retire to the junk yard. You can check it with the tools that you can download from the HD manf. website. But try the setup from your CD first.

Hope you dont have anything critical on that drive!

feels like your MBR (grasp Boot checklist) might desire to be corrupted or as suggested thechronic is death. on the grounds that I have not got any theory how your storage is partitioned i don't be attentive to what your Echronic is. (Is it a partition or yet another physicalchronic?). might desire to be the controller is flaking out as nicely.

Sounds like your hard drive is bad.
