we do feel emotions, however we supress them, and convert the emotions that you're thinking of, ie. sadness, pity, and compassion, to emotions that are more socially acceptable (or at least what us guys view as socially acceptable), such as anger, agression, and pride/boasting

"Our two minds .... One is an act of the emotional
mind, the other of the rational mind. In a very real
sense we have two minds, one that thinks and one that
feels" (Daniel Goleman, Emotional Intelligence,
Bloomsbury Publishing, London, 1996, page 8).

The Upanishads call the emotional component of mind as
Chitta and the rational component of mind as Manas. In
general, women excel in Chitta and men excel in Manas.

The Upanishads say that these two are opposite in
nature. Modern psychologist also have observed it, but
they are not very sure about it:

"At the same time, reason sometimes clearly seems to
come into conflict with some desires (even while not
being in conflict with others) giving us the impression
that reason is separate from emotion".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reason

The rational mind is connected with reason and logic.
However, logic has its limitations:

In the 1930s, Austrian mathematician Godel proved a
theorem which became the "Godel theorem" in cognition
theory. It states that any formalized 'logical' system
in principle cannot be complete in itself. It means
that a statement can always be found that can be
neither disproved nor proved using the means of that
particular system. To discuss about such a statement,
one must go beyond that very logic system; otherwise
nothing but a vicious circle will result. Psychologist
say that any experience is contingent - it's opposite
is logically possible and hence should not be treated
as contradictory.

Thats not true at all. I feel lots of emotion. All men feel emotion;its just that some/most of us feel inferior if we were to show or express such emotion. I think that you must have had an experiance recently where you felt the guy was being heartless or rude but the really he was trying very hard not to seem like a 'wuss" Because reguardless of what you say now, woman are attracted to big stong men. A man they can feel secure around. Nerds have emotion but they rarely have girlfriends, because a girl doesnt want another girl she wants a man.
I hope this clears up your issues.

Men CAN feel emotions, they're just not very good at expressing themselves. It is up to us to teach them, although they can be very difficult to train. It's genetic. Some are better adjusted than others, though. Show some patience and understanding, but don't let anyone walk all over you. Sometimes relationships are worth the time and effort and other times they're not. With age and time, you will be able to tell the difference. Good luck to you, girlfriend.

The truth is that all men feel emotion, they just don't show it. Men are just as complicated as women. I know it might feel like all the guys in your life are always so unsympathetic and dumb, but most of the time, they just want to look tough and try to act that way. Another reason that guys hide their emotions is that they don't want to look weak or introverted in front of other people. Also, how do you know that they can't feel emotion all the time? You certainly aren't around them every minute every day. They might just mask their emotions in front of you. The problem there is that when you are around them, your personality might discourage them from opening up to you.

Men do show emotion just differently then women and that is mainly because society tells them as little boys that"big boys don't cry" "don't be a wimp" etc etc. Hormones also play a factor because oestrogen levels affect moods and men typically have lower estrogen levels then women.

Men have emotional responses. However, it will not be similar to the response of women.
Your question is vague and difficult to answer.
Males are problem-solvers by nature, to forgo an initial logical response for most men would be incomprehensible.
Our emotions usually kick-in later, when retrospection and hind-sight have taken their course.
