Adopted the two puppies somebody threw over the neighbors fence while in a paper bag. My kids and wife spoiled them rotten.

When I was a nurse I was taking a young handicapped women to a doctors appt. We were driving on a 4 lane rode and we had come up to the hospital. I was about to turn in and noticed a small fuzzy kitten sitting on the painted white lines that divide the lanes. Just sitting there and there was a lot of traffic. I pulled over and ran out into the rode and scooped up the kitten. She had been hit. Her little face was bloody and she must have been in shock. I dropped the lady off at the front of the hospital and then headed for the emergency vet. I held the little kitty on my chest and I could her her trying to breath. Once I got to the vet the took care of her. In VA. theres a good Samaritan law so there was no charge. If I hadn't already had cats I would have adopted her.

OK. Are you ready? This is kind of sad. Once I was riding my bicycle home from work and I saw a bunch of little birds gathered around an injured bird. I went closer to see if I could do anything. Well the bird was dieing. When I got right up close to these birds none of them flew away. They all stayed close to their injured friend. Within seconds the little bird was dead. I let the other birds around it grieve for a moment. This all happened kind of on a bridge or overpass. There was alot of trash and debris under there. I found a milk carton to put the little creature in.After I scooped it up, I took it under the bridge and buried it. I don't know if this sounds like a weird or bad thing to have done, but it felt like the right thing to do.
I also do nice things for living creatures. If I see an earthworm on the sidewalk starting to dry out, I place it in some wet dirt. Once I fed a stray kitten.

I once upset the home of a newborn gecko (itty bitty), and it was so cute and looked so confused that I gave it little drops of pedialyte on a nickel (dehydration is the most common cause of death in baby geckos - the internet is an amazing thing). They don't need food because it takes a long time for them to digest the egg sac. Anyway, it lived and today, to the best of my knowledge, keeps the insect population down in my kitchen!

I helped a male bluebird care for his hatchlings after his mate was killed. He was one busy bird since he had to do all the hunting himself and care for the young. I went to Wildbirds Unlimited every few days and bought mealworms....which I had to keep in my refrigerator (yum). I whistled every time I went out on my back deck and the Blue Baron would fly over to the perch to get the mealworms. He would grab as many as he could and then take them to his nest. The best part was that after about a week when he landed on the perch he would sing to me before picking up dinner. He raised 4 handsome bluebirds and they all came back nearly every day at almost exactly 5:00 to visit my birdbath. How birds tell time is a mystery to me. :-)

I had this friend who had tied his dog to the back end of his truck. And he forgot the dog was there and he took him for a short run down to the store and back. Poor dog had bloody paws, and needed to see a vet. So I taped up his paws with these makeup pads, after cleaning the wounds up. And tranported him and his owner to the vet office. Meathead has been my life long friend ever since then.
