The 3Com EtherLink 10/100 PCI network interface card (NIC) heightens desktop performance, intelligence, and manageability so you can dramatically lower your total cost of networked PC ownership. Get simple, controllable, and affordable Ethernet migration with this dual-speed, full-duplex NIC. You'll be able to deliver higher network performance without disrupting users. Just connect the NIC cable to a 100BaseT hub or switch port; the NIC automatically auto-negotiates up to 100 Mbps. Optional Managed PC Boot Agent enables Pre-OS installations, upgrades, and recovery. Also enables remote visits if running network management software even when the PC cannot boot to lower the cost of ownership. DynamicAccess technology adds intelligence to desktops to optimize performance, control, and management on both switched and shared LANs. This solution helps you centralize control, increase security, and eliminate hours of local administration and support.

Its a network card to fit in a PCI slot in the computer. Its manufactured by 3COM.
You will need some network card to connect unless you arfe connecting by low speed dial up.
It does not necessarily have to come from 3COM.
The cost will depend on which card you get. Typically they can run fron $15-$60 or more.

It is an Ethernet card. You connect to a Local Area Network or to a broadband network using an Ethernet card. Mostly, you could get one for $10 or so.
