Answer....-3p^3....keep the base and add the exponents.

The answer would be -3p^3 because all you are doing is adding the exponents which in this case happens to be p. p^2 + p = p^3. Then all you have to do is put the answer together. The negative sign carries over and the p's combine, so your final answer ends up being -3p^3.
