I'm considering building a Home theatre computer. Nothing flash on the computer side of things.....general internet, simple games, word processing etc. Which would be better? A single core processor or dual core?

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

Dual core

Game will play four time faster and on pretty good settings as well, assuming one get a good graphics card as well.
But without of doubt, it's only slightly more expensive and it is well worth it, you will notice the difference instantly. We are talking about an extra £100.

As for Word processing - sadly there will very little difference.
However as for sound quality, with dual core you will be able to integrate a better sound card, and that can make an amazing difference.

Dual core will also last longer and is more compatible - with Windows Vista in line I would consider it.

Well single core processors are best for everyday use, not for intense gaming, so i think you should get a single core computer. And if you decide to start gaming and your computer is too slow you can always upgrade the processor and RAM(random access memory).
