I personally used DS tests while ttc. I personally never had any problems with them- ever. As a matter of fact, 9dpo I had a positive with a Dollar Store test. (I have it scanned, if you want to see it message me!) I took it 9dpo after developing m/s. It was 5 days before my period and I got a positive. I am now expecting identical twins.
Dollar store tests are some of the most sensitive there are (they were initially made for use with IVF patients) However- there is a problem with something called "evap lines" moreso then any other test. Thats where the test is initially negative but after a few hours of evaporation a phantom line appears.

They can detect levels as low as 15 miui hcg though. Thats extremely sensitive compared to other brands.

Check www.peeonastick.com for which tests are dependable and reliable and good luck!

Although EPT just came out with their "5 days earlier" test it is not highly recommended even from doctors. You don't want to test to early and get a negative and be pregnant, however you also don't want to test to early and get a false positive. At one time they were not possible because the tests did not read until a certain amount of HCG was apparent. But now with lower numbers of HCG being needed it can almost detect a fertlized egg, which has not implanted yet, so if you test to early you could be setting yourself up for any false hope.

As a past positive for pregnancy using a dollar store test, even recommended through my OB since I had a tubal reversal surgery to get pregnant, they say wait until you have missed your period 2/3 days out and use the first morning urine to get the highest level of HCG.

However, as a woman anxiously ttc I understand it is easier said then done. But still with a dollar store test OR any test wait until you have "missed" your period before testing!

why waste your time and money on a dollar store prenancy test---go to the pharmacy and buy a test it will be well worth it. There was a time I went and purchased an off brand that came back positive. With that I went to the doctor and they asked me "who told you that you were pregnant?" I was mortified not to mention a $135 bill.

that's a funny question. I took a dollar store pregnancy test when I KNEW I was pregnant, and it was negative. thennn.. I went to the doctor within hours.. and that one was positive. I don't like the dollar store tests. try walmart, or cvs, or walgreens. anything but the dollar store. sorry.

If you have a question on the quality of a home pregnancy test , go to a clinic and have one done...they are more reliable.
