We go through life doing the best we can. At times we struggle. At times we are at peace. But in the end, is it all worth it?

I have a step daughter. My wife's baby girl. She's somewhere in her mid twenties, very rough on relationships and rough on herself. You wouldn't know it to look at her but, she has wisdom beyond her years in some areas of her life. In other areas she is like the rest of us, just prodding along trying to make heads or tails out of life. She said something that I am still trying to grasp. I'm not sure if it's wise, ridiculous, new wave, or old hat. She said "I may have made allot of mistakes, but, at least they were 'my' mistakes". In other words she took responsibility for what she has done and took pleasure knowing that she made a decision, right or wrong, she made one. I think that you are in a sense like her. In the end, you made your own decisions. Right or wrong, who cares. But you didn't ride the fence. Yeah, I think in the end, you will look back and smile. Old blue eyes couldn't have said it better. "I did it my way"

Yes!!! What you can expect from life is change. The end is never the end until the true end. Then that end is a new beginning. Each day is worth it. Believe me, I have lived a while, ups and downs. It's always worth it. Believe in the day, sometimes it's belief in the minute, just go for it.

It is a question of: do you believe there is a place you will go when you die? Are you religous, do you believe in God. Then all your struggles to do you best will be worth it in the end. Because you will be in paradise and at absolute peace.

While I happen to subscribe to the belief that this isn't all there is, even if it were the case, I still think I'd be pretty happy to take the life I can get. Ideally, of course, we'd all have great lives and wouldn't feel the need to ask whether it was worth it or not ;)

Well, that would depend on a lot of things...

The number one thing it depends on is whether you have a purpose to live. This can be anything from religion, to making as much money as possible, to enjoying family and friends. A lot depends on your view of after-life. because to gives motivation for living. If you don't belive in after-life, then there really is no point to life right now. If you do belive in after life, (it dosn't matter what religion) then you have a reason to live.

I believe that the only reason to live is for my relationship with God. I belive that I have a better place to go to when I die, and that I'm here for a purpose - to bring glory and honor to my God. When I die, I belive that I will go to a place of ultimate peace and rest. But until then, I am to make the most of my time here on earth.

But don't you see...only you can answer that for yourself. If you do not feel that your life has been worth living, then find a purpose. Something to do for others, works of charity for example, random acts of kindness, for the sake of kindness alone. We make our lives worth the trouble. The world does nothing for us and asks nothing from us. What we choose to put into the life we have is the measure of who and what we were.

We are born and we have to live unless you decide to terminate your life. That's all there is. Struggle and peace are part of the game. Life keeps changing whether you want it to change or not. You can't always be happy and you can't always be sad.

I think that it is worth it. I had a brief glimpse of what is in store for us.

Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away.

While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination.

Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to.

I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us.
During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible.

I can’t explain the love I felt with words. They simply don’t make words big enough or complete enough to do this. The only way I can begin to convey this love to you is to say that there was simply nothing else there. Nothing but love. No hint of judgment, no displeasure of any sort. It is as though God sees us as being as perfect as we were the day we were created. It is only in our confused idea of ourselves that we seem to have changed.

I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck. Love and blessings.
