When they are no longer waking for feedings and sleeping through the night. My son has been in his own room since he was 3.5mo old. Even though he was sleeping through at 2mo. Most importantly it's what you feel is best!

a baby usually cries out a lot on different times day and night..it is way more convenient for the baby to sleep next to u so u wont have to get up every 5 mins. or 30 mins. or an hr. or so just to comfort or to feed the baby...u can let him sleep in another room when the baby sleeps straight all through the night or day

I put my baby in a bassinette in the living room and slept on the couch for the first two weeks or so. I moved her to the crib and slept on the twin bed that is already in her room for another 2 weeks, then I moved into my own room/bed from there. So I guess about 1 month old.

I know the "experts" might have different ideas, but we kept his crib in our room til he was 10 months old, I was worried about crib death, smothering, etc, until I felt he was old enough to go in his own room. We kept the baby monitor in his room til he was 2, by that time he was in a toddler bed and could get up and come to our bed if he wanted anything. I think it's personal choice more than what the "experts" say, because that changes from decade to decade anyway.

THE NIGHT THE BABY COMES HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL! First of all, I don't think most new parents realize how much stinkin' noise a baby makes in the night. And being a paranoid new parent you wake up for EVERY one of those noises. My rule of thumb is, if the baby (in another room) is loud enough to wake you, they need you. If the noise isn't enough to wake you (from the other room), they don't need you. Second, you should start the way you mean to go on. Why have to retrain your baby to sleep in his own crib in his own room with lots of tears later, when you can start out that way now?

I put my baby girl in her crib around 2 1/2 months and she seemed fine with it. I probably could have put her in sooner but she was breastfed and she woke up alot during the night so it was much easier being close to me in our room.

We put our children in their own rooms at about 2 months of age. I set their crib up in my room until then, it helped me to sleep being able to see and hear them. Once we were comfortable I moved them into their own room.

My babe decided to move into his crib when he was 6 months. Came back at 8 months due to teething. Moved back at 11 months and came back again after a month because he wouldn't nap one week and I had a contract deadline so one day I let him cry in there a few times.
Really they are pretty much capable of telling you what they need.

I am one of these mom's who believes in keeping baby close, making sure if baby wakes up he or she is heard and needs are met. With my sons, we moved them to their own rooms at 10 months. With our daughter she was the last baby, and I kept her near me until 15 months.
