I am an American of German and Lithuanian decent. I decided not to take German as a language in school because I have no desire to go there unless I become wealthy enough to take a vacation across Europe. Also, German is not a very pretty language.

I disliked most of the German foods I have tried, and it seems like the people of Germany are the "bad guys" as far as the world wars go, however I would never actually enforce that stereotype on a German person.

I suppose I have never really considered Germany or German people to have much impact on my life outside of economic factors.

I have always wondered, however, how do German teachers explain the Holocaust to school children? In the U.S. some teachers seem to gloss over some of more destructive things in our past (Hiroshima and Nagasaki), but what do they do in Germany? The same?

I lived in West Berlin for a year and my impression was that they have different customs and ways than Americans do which makes them seem aggressive and rude to some of us. I was usually treated rudely in the shops and I think that this was because, at the time I was married to one of the members of the "occupying forces". This was in the 80s and I felt like I was one of the conquerers who had come to occupy the city. And felt resented for that reason.

I made one German friend while there, and she was very sweet and welcoming.

So, I guess, my opinion of Germans depends on the circumstances, the individual and the social climate. I don't believe you can lump any group of people together and label them. Everyone is an individual, no matter what their cultural back ground.

By the way, my father is 100% of German descent, and he is the kindest man you could ever know.

I know people who are part german... Ive never been to germany or met a full german person but I assume that they are just like us. There are probably nice german people and mean german people. I dont really like sauerkraut or sausages, but I really wish I had a pair of lederhoesens.

I have only ever gotten to really know one German person. She was an exchange student at my high school. During the year she was here, we became great friends....so, obviously I have nothing against Germans. I can't generalize...

Not all, but most of them are racist arrogant pricks. Those that are not are unemployed Air Bus socialist sheep are begging to have their basic human rights taken away from them. In a word - wimps.

They have become the very same people they tried to defeat back in 1939 / 1940. Surrender monkeys. Germany is cooked as is Spain and France. Prepare yourselves for Sharia law and beheadings. Oh, and don't call us to save you again. Not interested.
