I am a stay at home mum, and am unable to work. My boyfriend is self employed and goes to work any time of day or night, for any amount of time. As i have no-one to babysit, and we dont really have the money for our child to go to nursery i have no choice but to stay at home.
My boyfriend has found a mon - fri 9 -5 job that means i can go to work and bring in a seperate income on the weekends.
the problem is that he needs to be trained for it first, which means he will only get a small wage for the first 8 weeks.
As he will be on a low wage and is the only one working, is their anyway we will be able to get some sort of financal help, as he will be alot out of pocket for those 2 months?
(Please dont say tax credits as apparently we were overpaid last year and everything we recieve they get straight back!)
Any help, or info would be appreached.

Check when your overpayment runs out, they cant take money off you for ever. Also look at council tax benefit and housing benefit. Tax credits is the only thing really for people in work. Also check that his wage is actually going to be at least minimum wage - they cant pay him lower cos hes a 'trainee'.

unless the company he is training for is willing to give him a living allowance then your only other alternative unfortunatly is working tax credits, although do go along to your local CAB and ask them.
