I was charged with domestic violence, criminal mischief and harrassment in 2005. All charges were dropped and i have never been in any trouble before. We are having a hard time having kids and i worry that if we have to adopt in the next couple of years, that my back ground will effect it, even tho i was charged but not convicted. Any help would be appreciated.

yes, any involvements with the law could be used against you. They're looking for absolutely perfect people to adopt. But, that doesn't mean that you can't still try.

Now this could be a problem. Whether or not you were convicted of these charges they may have a bearing on adoption since all these records are opened to social services and child adoption agencies.

It shouldn't because your charges were dropped. However you may want to look into whether you can request to have them removed from your record.
