This happened in Colorado in 2005, and the charges were ( domestic violence, criminal mischief and harrassment). I have never been in trouble before this. But I am working on getting my Bachelors degree and got to thinking that maybe these charges but not conviction would hurt my chances of being a social worker in two years, or something in that field, case manager ect.

background checks only show convictions - the only way any employer would know that you were charged (even if you werent convicted) is if they go through public records of the county the charges were filed. it would cost too much money to sift through police reports like that when you werent even convicted. besides, even if it did come up, you were NOT found guilty. therefore clearing you of any wrongdoing. i seriously doubt they would find the records in the first place, much less hold it against you.

Why were the charges dropped? Actually that shouldn't matter. If you were not convicted then you were not proven guilty. People do get wrongfully charged quite a bit and should not be punished for it.]

Edit - Just an aside here. If there was any merit to the Domestic Violence charge, even if you weren't convicted, then you may want to re-think your planned line of work.

Don't worry about it if you weren't convicted it isn't on your criminal record. It should not have any bearing on your choosen career. They were just charges it could happen to anybody.

It might, but it depends on why you were not convicted. Your examples are so minor, I can't imagine it being a huge issue, but it might come up.
