As the mother of a newborn it breaks my heart when my son makes that 'huh huh huh' cry that means he is hungry.

How could anyone bear it if their baby is sobbing with hunger but they have no food for him?

What if everyone who reads this question donates just £1 to a charity tomorrow?

I will if you will!

:)

p.s. which is the best charity for that? Is it oxfam? How do you go about raising money for them? I wouldn't know where to start... any ideas?

you could start by donating clothes etc you don't use anymore, if you've got a baby they grow fast and their clothes will give money to oxfam and provide another child with cheap clothes.

i donate every month through direct debit. if you want to do more pop into your local shop and have a chat with them. you can check out what they're selling while you're there. if you don't like the clothes they also sell fair trade coffee and chocolate etc (which is lovely).

America's Second Harvest has corporate sponsors who donate everytime someone clicks on a link on their site. They & Feed The Children are 2 of the best charities I know to feed the poor & most of their money goes directly to the poor. Another neat thing I've found to do is when some of the fast food places have holiday specials of like 10 burgers for $1 for those 12 and under I buy $10. worth & donate them to the soup kitchen. That feeds 100 kids a burger. Or if it's for treats it's still nice. Few soup kitchens are open on Sunday so at least it puts something in their belly on the sabbath if they keep it until then. No one should ever go hungry. You can blaim corporate greed or politics but if you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem.

Well, I have not donated to any childrens charities or anything like that...I have decided to get more hands on. My husband and I are adopting a little girl who would have gone into the foster system if she wasn't adopted because birthmom had all the rest of her 7 children taken. Plus we decided to become foster parents because every time we went somewhere you would see parents that are not taking care of their children, there is a real need for both adoptive and foster parents. That is a great way to get hands on, but if you feel like making donations, may I suggest helping a family that is adopting, or finding a place that does adoption grants. I know of something called ABBA Fund, they are a interest free loan organization that help Christians and always need more donations. Also many churches have Adoption Grants that need donations all the time!

if you are so eager to help why not help out in Charity shops like oxfam? Fair play to you! its more then enough for most people to worry about feeding their own children. You are a really caring individual. if only there were more of you in the world,it would be a lovely place. :)

I watched Red Nose Day yesterday and it broke my heart. Its all so unecessary. There is enough money / food in the world to stop starvation and disease in the third world. I think it is disgusting that in this day and age people have to live like that.

After seeing the poor mother who lost her 3 year old daughter on the way to the hospital because she had malaria (it cost £2.50 for a malaria vaccination) I dontated £100. I cant really afford that but that poor mother couldnt afford to help her child.

Lets cancel out third world debt and let them build a decent life for themselves again.

I think the best Charity is UNICEF. Not only does it feed
starving children, but educates, prevents diseases, and
help them be clean and healthy.

I was a sponsor for a child in Africa for a year... but now I really can understand celebrities more when they take just one (or more) and make sure that they support for that child and not for something or somebody else. Besides, it is plenty of disadvantage children near by
